May Grading
FRIDAY 31ST, BUCHAN HALL, GRADING NO 3.
Venue: Buchan Hall, Buchan Road, Nunhead, SE15 3HQ
Time: 9:30 AM ~ 12 Midday
BOOKING DATE: FRIDAY 24TH MAY.
TIME: ARRIVE 9:30 AM FOR 10 AM START.
FEE: AS PER GRADE APPLYING FOR.
This grading will be our last one before closing for the summer holidays. Students should register and pay, for this grading via the Grading form, in the members section of the New Wave website. The online grading form will be accessible 2 weeks before the grading date. The online grading form will cease to be accessible midnight on 24th May, therefore it is important to complete the grading form and transfer payment by the booking date.
Although it is possible for students to double grade, i.e. advance two grades if they perform extremely well at their grading. However, students always grade for their next immediate belt level and do not have the option to choose which grade they are applying for. Furthermore: Students do not get to decide when they grade, this is strictly up to the student’s instructor and the Head instructors of New Wave.

May Camp
TUE 28TH, WED 29TH, THURS 30TH, CAMP TAEKWONDO
Venue: Buchan Hall, Buchan Road, Nunhead, SE15 3HQ
Time: 10 AM - 2 PM
Requirements: Pack lunch, Taekwondo uniform, change of clothes, preferably tracksuit for lunchtime activities.
BOOKING DATE: FRIDAY 24TH MAY.
FEE: £30, ONE DAY OF CAMP OR £60 ALL THREE DAYS BY BOOKING DATE (£65 THEREAFTER)
You will be notified when the online booking form will be available!
The Camp is 12 hours over three days and is open to all New Wave students. It is a great opportunity for students from all New Wave Clubs to learn from New Wave Instructors and gage themselves against one another.
This will be the last camp before we break up for the summer holidays. Students will cover all elements of the New Wave syllabus. This Camp is suitable for all New Wave students, but with a focus to prepare students grading on Friday 31st May.
Spaces are limited and are available on first come first served bases!!

May Mass Sparring 2
SATURDAY 18TH, MASS SPARRING SESSION NO: 2
Venue: Buchan Hall, Buchan Road, Nunhead, SE15 3HQ
Time: Younger & Juniors Grades students: 9:30 -11:00 AM
Older & Senior Grades students: 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM
Requirements: Complete set of Sparring Equipment, Bottle of water. In the interest of safety, ensure all finger and toe nails are cut short!
BOOKING DATE: FRIDAY 10TH MAY.
FEE: £16 BY THE BOOKING DATE, £18 THEREAFTER

New Wave instructors spend between 4-6 weeks, leading up to MSS’s, to prepare students for them. To be at their best, it is important that students do not miss any sessions leading up to to MSS’s.
At each MSS, instructors look to see the progress achieved by students in their ability to spar. Student’s MUST achieve a level of ability in sparring, as required by instructors, in order to grade for Green Belt and each grade thereafter!! It is for this reason that Mass Sparring Sessions remain compulsory for students Orange Belt/ Green tag and above.
Note: Although, MSS’s are compulsory for students Orange Belt/ Green tag and above, lower grade students are invited to attend at Instructors discretion.
April Grading
THURSDAY 06TH, BUCHAN HALL, GRADING NO 2.
Venue: Buchan Hall, Buchan Road, Nunhead, SE15 3HQ
Time: 9:30 AM ~ 12 Midday
BOOKING DATE: FRIDAY 29TH MARCH.
TIME: ARRIVE 9:30 AM FOR 10 AM START.

April Camp

Students traditionally use this Camp to prepare for the April grading, which will be held on the morning of Thursday 06th April. The April Camp is well attended every year and as spaces remain limited, students should book their places early to avoid disappointment. Over the three days of Camp, students cover: Self Defence, Patterns, fitness and all other elements of the New Wave Syllabus.

March Mass Sparring 1

This will be the first of four MSS’s planned for 2024. Sparring remains a crucial factor in helping students to the develop the ability and confidence to defend themselves using TKD in the real world. It is for this reason that Mass Sparring Sessions remain compulsory for students Orange Belt/ Green tag and above. New Wave instructors use between 4-6 weeks, leading up to MSS’s, to prepare for them. It is important that students, not only, attend all four MSS’s throughout the year, but that they do not miss sessions leading up to them, as doing so can severely affect their performance on the day.
Note: Although, MSS’s are compulsory for students Orange Belt/ Green tag and above, lower grade students are invited to attend at Instructors discretion.
February Grading
THURSDAY 15TH, BUCHAN HALL, GRADING NO 1.

TIME: ARRIVE 9:30 AM FOR 10 AM START.

This will be the first of four grading held in 2024 and guess what, we no longer hand out grading forms. Students should register and pay, for this grading via the Grading form, in the members section of the New Wave website. The online grading form will be accessible 2 weeks before the grading date. The online grading form will cease to be accessible midnight on 01st February, therefore it is important to complete the grading form and transfer payment by the booking date.
Although it is possible for students to double grade, i.e. advance two grades if they perform extremely well at their test. However, students always grade for their next immediate belt level and do not have the option to choose which grade they are applying for. Furthermore: Students do not get to decide when they grade, this is strictly up to the student’s instructor and the Head instructors of New Wave.

February Camp
MON 12TH, TUES 13TH WED 14TH, CAMP TAEKWONDO

Time: 10 AM - 2 PM
Requirements: Pack lunch, Tae Kwon Do uniform, change of clothes, preferably tracksuit for lunchtime activities.
BOOKING DATE: FRIDAY 02ND FEBRUARY.
FEE: £30, ONE DAY OF CAMP OR £60 ALL THREE DAYS BY BOOKING DATE (£65 THEREAFTER)

The Camp is 12 hours over three days and is open to all New Wave students Yellow Belt and above. It is a great opportunity for students from all New Wave Clubs to learn from New Wave Instructors and gage themselves against one another.
The Taekwondo & Hapkido syllabuses are not static. New Wave instructors are constantly refining them to aid the progress of students. As has become our custom, we will use the first Camp of the year to lay down the foundation for what is required for students to progress throughout the year. In recent years the club has put a greater emphasis on: rolls, breakfalls, wrist locks, throws, in essence, self-defence. This camp will take the opportunity to cover all aspects of the New Wave syllabus.
CAMPS ARE EXTREAMLY POPULAR, HOWEVER SPACES ARE LIMITED, TO AVOID DISAPOINTMENT, BOOK EARLY!!.

Senior Grade Grading
This grading will be our last of 2023. Grading forms are handed out to students two to three weeks before the grading date. These must be completed and returned to instructors (with grading fee) by the booking date. Only those students, selected to grade, will be handed a grading form!
